Looking back on five years of Klimbos Garderen

"Five years ago, we opened our Klimbos in Garderen. What started with three courses has since grown into a beautiful climbing park with no fewer than seven courses. And let’s not forget—this year we were named one of the best active getaways in the Netherlands!"
The interview below with Erik Kroon, owner and founder of Klimbos Garderen, appeared in the Barneveldse Krant on June 27. Kroon’s vision extends beyond simply establishing the Klimbos in Garderen. His next step is to further develop Garderen and put it on the map as the Veluwe’s first “outdoor” village. Kroon is already doing this with the bike rental chain VeluweSpecialist, which, like Klimbos Garderen, is part of SOS Events BV. At VeluweSpecialist, tourists can rent bicycles, e-bikes, (e-)mountain bikes, balance bikes, and Twizys, among other options, including beautiful routes through the Veluwe. “In addition, we’re working with various entrepreneurs and regions to make plans to connect Garderen to an ATB network, horseback riding trails, and hiking routes.”
Klimbos Garderen expects to welcome 40,000 visitors this year, making it the most popular and highest-rated Klimbos in the Veluwe in just five years. “We’re not only the highest Klimbos, but also the safest. And that’s what our visitors appreciate most. Because it gives you a sense of security knowing that you and your children are securely fastened to the course at all times,” said Kroon. Klimbos Garderen is suitable for all ages, school field trips, training sessions for sports programs, children’s parties, family and company outings, as well as for organizations working with children with behavioral challenges and people with disabilities
