NK Nail Hanging at Klimbos Garderen turns out to be a great success!

"We hadn’t expected so many participants," says Erik Kroon, owner of the climbing forest. "No fewer than 200 participants took part in the preliminary rounds across the various categories." After the preliminary rounds, which took place “just” on the ground, it was time for the finals at 5:00 p.m. The finals were held at a height of 25 meters, on the highest course at Klimbos Garderen.
During the finals, the day’s best jeans hangers were guided to the highest point and, of course, hoisted into a harness so they could hang safely. The height added an extra dimension. It was no longer just about hanging from your jeans until your arm and hand muscles simply couldn’t take it anymore. The thought of hanging 25 meters above the ground also proved to be an extra challenge for most participants.
But not for Nova Brummelman (13) from Eefde and Owen de Boorder (13) from Zaandam. They were crowned Dutch champions in the under-16 youth category. With times of 1 minute and 23 seconds and 1 minute and 27 seconds, respectively, they hung on to the jeans the longest. In the 16-and-over category, Michelle Beelen (25) from Barneveld became the Dutch women’s champion with a time of 1 minute and 14 seconds, while Daan Schouten (16) from Uddel claimed the men’s title with a time of 1 minute and 40 seconds.
“A successful first edition,” said Kroon, who has thus brought three major events to the climbing forest in Garderen: dew climbing during Ascension Day in the spring, Halloween climbing in the fall, and now the Dutch National Jeans-Hanging Championship every summer.
